2006 Tony Makjavich Memorial Review

The Tony Makjavich Memorial golf tournament found sunny skies at Sunol Valley Golf Club on October 7, 2006. After a bit of a delay on the Cypress course the tournament got under way. With a nice -12, the team of Brian Nakamoto, Frank Gomez, Dan Jimenez, and Alan Bautista won the championship. Al Talboy, Mark Fabro, and Brian Luckner tied the score but were done in by the tie breaker. Nice job by the old Mountain View boys!

The banquet followed at 6:30 and was packed with 100 participants. Raffle ticket sells were off the charts. One guy bought 100 tickets and scored several of the big ticket items. Sandy Wihtol, a three year sponsor won a weekend stay in Reno (donated by Joani Lamica from Downey Savings). Dave McGourty won the sasquach Nike driver and Robbin Kashitani won the Kodak 5 Mega-pixel digital camera.

Two awards were given out. The Tony Mak Award was given to Max Pinto for his hustle and superb play. The MVP award was given to Matt Campbell for his 10 win season and third undefeated in a row.

There was a bit of a '78 Foothill college baseball reunion with Charlie Clark and Steve Dalton making the trip up from L.A. Matt Maki and Brian Luckner and Henry Torres were all there along with our coach, Al Talboy. After the banquet a picture was taken with all of Mr. Talboy's Foothill players (below).
